» LIVING A LIFE OF DARKNESS-SCROLL 1

<< Transylvania 1804 >>

It was a scorching hot day and he was outside, once again, working the small fields of his farm. He was humming as he worked and seemed rather delighted to be working despite the hot heat.

His name was David, David Havok. He was a young, 28-year-old farm owner who lived in the small town of Driscoll, Transylvania. He was somewhat short for the average man his age but he definitely made up for it in looks. His long, elegant black hair draped lightly over his shoulders. And he always seemed to be clean despite how hard he worked everyday.

David lived a high-end life despite how small his farm was. The townspeople around him were always amazed at how one young man can grow so many crops. But it wasn't the crops that mattered to David; he just did it for the money. What he really wanted was to impress that mysterious woman who is always wandering around at night. David watched her from his window every night as she stealthily sneaked around town. She was beautiful. Some people thought she was crazy but David always seemed to find beauty in crazy things.

One night as David was watching the girl he saw her heading towards his house. He heard a knock. He was surprised after all these nights the wonderful woman would finally choose his house. He walked quietly downstairs and opened the door. The girl stood there smiling. From a distance she looked no older then 17 or 18 but now getting a good view David thought her to be more around his age. He smiled, "Hello there, how may I help you?"

The girl stood gazing at the man in the doorway intently. Her original intentions faded and she quickly thought up a story, "I'm sorry, dear sir, but I was wandering about and I've lost my way. I have no where else to go." The man smiled.

"You may stay here if you like. I have plenty of extra room," he offered.

"Why thank you so much, sir." He cringed at the word.

"Call me David, please."

"Alright, David." He smiled and led her upstairs.

"You can stay here." David opened a door revealing a nice room with a large bed and windows.

"It's so nice." She said, admiring the carvings on the wall of various trees and forest creatures.

"Thanks I did it all myself." He had a look of pride.

"Well you did a very wonderful job." She sat on the bed and looked around again, looking very content but not feeling so much the same. She couldn't tell him yet.

"Well, I'm off to bed. If you need anything..."

"Mina."

"Mina. That's a beautiful name," she blushed, "if you need anything just ask." With that said David left the room closing the door behind him. Mina crawled into the bed and thought about what just happened, 'I have never let anyone get away with it; I have never let anyone go, no matter who they are or what they look like. I'm a vampire, I shouldn't have feelings like this, and hunger prevails, doesn't it? There's definitely something odd about this David man that made me avoid killing him.' She continued contemplating what she just did and thinking about how much HE was going to be mad at her. She drifted off to sleep hoping HE wouldn't find out anytime soon.
