» LIVING A LIFE OF DARKNESS-SCROLL 3

David had put the painting of the girl on his wall by the kitchen table. He was eating dinner, glancing up at the picture every few minutes to admire it. It wasn't so much as he thought it attractive but something drew him to that picture. He was interrupted by a loud knock. He headed into the main hallway and opened the door, it was she, "Come for some more hospitality?" he asked smiling politely.

"Maybe," she said brushing past him rather seductively, "maybe not." She smirked. David was confused. He had never had a girl be like this around him.

"Do you still have that extra room open?" she asked.

"Yes, I do."

"Would you mind if I stayed there for a couple of days, if need be?" she asked taking a seat on the bench by the door.

"A couple of days? I haven't had company that long in ages. Of course!" She smiled; everything was working out how it should.

"Thank you so much, David." She said standing up and heading towards the stairs down the hall.

The next day Mina awoke to the satisfied feeling of a good meal from the night before. She stretched and then climbed out of bed slowly and headed to the door. Upon opening it David stumbled in, she laughed, "I'm sorry, I didn't know you were out there."

"It's ok. I was just checking on you."

"Well I'm feeling great today, so, what's for breakfast?"

"Eggs, like usual. Come down whenever you're ready." He said smiling and walked off down the hallway. Mina watched him walk away, 'Well at least I have an attractive man to seduce' she thought, laughing to herself.

David had already begun eating when Mina arrived. She looked above the table and saw the painting, "David, it's beautiful." He looked up from his food confused before realizing what she was looking at.

"I drew it after you left. You were all I was thinking about and somehow I knew you'd come back."

"Well I think we definitely have a connection. I've never let anyone survive..." she cut herself off and looked down at her food.

"You don't let people survive what?" David asked suddenly very curious. Mina sighed and tried to think of something to cover up her story, she wasn't ready to tell him just yet.

"I mean, I've never seen anyone survive without going crazy if they didn't have a soul mate and I feel that type of connection with you." David looked thoroughly confused but soon worked out what he thought she was trying to say.

"I guess I feel that too." They both smiled. Tonight Mina would get him, or she'd try. He seemed like an easy one and was already falling under her spell. Not many men could turn her down and David was no exception.

David had gone to his room and Mina had returned from an early hunt. She walked upstairs and down the hallway passing her room and stopping in front of David's door. She knocked softly, "Come in," he said. She opened the door to find him sitting in his stool painting. She smiled and walked up behind him wrapping her arms around him. David jumped at the feeling but then relaxed into her. He liked it. He placed the brushes on the table near the canvas.

"I have something to tell you." She whispered seductively in his ear running her hands up and down his sides.

"Mmm, what?" he questioned.

"I'm a vampire. I've been sent to make you one too. My question is, will you accept it?" As she said this her hands traveled farther down putting pressure on his crotch, he let out a soft moan. David had never done this before and he was enjoying it. Mina smiled, she had him, she knew it.

"Vampire? Does that mean I'll live, mmmm, god Mina, live forever?" He asked between moans.

"Mmhmm"

"Does it hurt?" He asked nervously.

"Only if you want it to." She said pushing against him again causing a loud moan. No more words were said as Mina led David to the bed and climbed on top of him. She leaned down and pressed her lips to his in a quick but passionate kiss, "My clan forbids forceful transformations. Are you sure you want this?" she asked him sucking on his neck. David could only nod. With that Mina felt her fangs grow longer and sunk her teeth into his neck. David winced a little but soon relaxed as blood was drained from his veins. She stopped, leaving enough to keep him alive before cutting her own wrist and dripping it into his wound. David had fainted from blood loss but Mina knew that by tomorrow he would be perfectly all right and would be an official member of her clan. She smiled at him lying there peacefully. She snuggled up next to him and fell asleep soon after.

The next morning David woke up feeling different. He had a sudden urge to taste blood, human blood. He then noticed Mina laying beside him and suddenly the sequence of events from the night before returned to him. He reached his hand up to his neck and felt around; sure enough he could feel two small scabs formed there and some dry blood around it. His movement had caused Mina to stir and she awoke to David's smiling face. They both climbed out of bed and moved around the room in silence before Mina finally talked, "You might feel a little odd the first few days. It takes a while to get used to it. But after a few months you'll feel great." Mina walked over to David and pressed her lips to his, "Welcome to our clan, David..."

"Havok."

"Such a perfect name for a vampire. I think you were born to join us." Mina said laughing, "Now, I need to take you to Dorian."

"Dorian?"

"Yes, he is the head of our clan. He was the one that sent me here to get you and now you must meet him." Mina led him downstairs and out the door, she stopped outside his house, "Say good-bye to this house now you may never return to it." And with that the two walked off through the village and towards the large forest at the end of the path. David smiled, as his house got smaller in this distance, this felt right.

After giving David a few tips he had discovered how to turn himself into a bat and the two flew off into the woods arriving much faster then if they had walked. When Dorian saw the two bats with the same red markings he smiled, she got him. With a little help from both Mina and Dorian, David was returned to his human state, despite a little disorientation. Dorian laughed, "Are you alright?" David looked up onto one of the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen. All his love for Mina was swept away when his eyes met the bright piercing blue of Dorian's.

"I'm fine, thank you."

"Yes, it takes a little while to get used to flying and landing and switching back and forth. You'll learn soon enough, you have a very good teacher." Dorian said smiling at Mina, "I welcome you, David Havok, to my clan."

"You know my name?"

"Of course I do. I've been watching you David. I saw you'd be a perfect addition to our clan for the war."

"War?" David asked looking over to Mina, "You didn't mention a war."

“I didn’t know...” Dorian silenced them.

"I will explain to you both, but first we must wait for the rest to arrive. Many are traveling from far away lands and we need our whole clan before any announcements can be made." Dorian said before sitting on a large stone carved into a chair. Mina invited David to sit next to her in one of the other 16 chairs formed in a circle around Dorian's. Soon they saw people walking and bats flying into the area all taking a seat in one of the chairs. Dorian smiled as the chairs filled with familiar faces. When all the seats were filled Dorian held up his hands and the chatter among the clan stopped, "Welcome back everyone. Some of you have traveled many miles to get here, some haven't and some of you are new." He said this last one with a wink at David, "We are all here to discuss the war of the clans. As you know the Desu clan has been threatening our boundaries for years and we must hold them back. We are now a clan of 16. It may seem small but what some of you don't know is that as it stands right now we have the largest clan in our area. Desu only has 14 and we should easily be able to defend ourselves." A cheer went up among the clan members and many shouted obscenities about the Desu clan, "SILENCE!" The clan quieted immediately and Dorian continued, "When the war begins I will call you all to return and I want every one of you here without hesitation, as you have done today. I am very proud of you all, we've gone very far from just young Mina and myself. Thank you all for coming, you are dismissed." Dorian motioned for David and Mina to stay and the 3 of them watched everyone fly or walk off into the night.

"So, what are we doing here?" Mina asked Dorian.

"Simply to keep me company and so that I may possibly get to know David here a little better." Dorian smiled, he was already fond of David and he'd barely said a word, "A young one aren't you?"

"I'm 28, sir." David said being respectful.

"Sir?" Dorian laughed, "Please, David, I'm far from a sir. I may be your ruler but please, call me Dorian, I can't stand that horrid word 'sir'."

"Dorian." David corrected himself.

"Thank you. Now, if you're wondering I'm 325. That's a lot of vampire history I have and I've built up more power then you could ever imagine. You probably will too eventually. I sense it in you. But age doesn't really matter when you live forever. It's talent and how you do your craft that earns you respect, not age." David listened curiously as Dorian went into a whole background of the clan, being a vampire and covered practically everything he needed to know, "And now that you know the history and life, it is getting late. How about I take you out on a hunt?"

"What about me?" Mina inquired nudging Dorian.

"Tonight is my night with David." Dorian smiled sweetly at David. David had a feeling Dorian wanted him for more then just another vampire to help in the war. Not that he minded, something drew him to Dorian, more then he had been to Mina. He felt like he had before he was a vampire, before he became the undead. He felt alive, more alive then when he was living and he was delighted to be able to go off with Dorian that night.
