» AS LONG AS YOU NEED ME-AN UNUSUAL MEETING

There was a vegan restaurant in a small city outside of Ukiah. I'm Sarah, a 25 year-old graphics and webpage designer, who was there daily and I knew everyone and they knew me. It was like my hangout-I didn't like clubbing much, too much drinking and drugs, I wasn't interested in that stuff, and I wasn't into religion much so I stayed away from churches most of the time. So my last place left to go were restaurants, and being Vegan 'The Green Fiend' was really the only place to go in such a small area.

One day I was having an early lunch with the usual group of people, Mark, Jon, Kelsey, Joanne and Ryan. We were having a competition as to who could finish their salad first as the conversation topics got dull. I slammed down my fork, "HA! I beat you!"

"Damn you..." Ryan replied putting his fork down and giving up, he was only halfway done and everyone else was on their last few bites, he glanced around, "Damn you all." They all laughed. Then the bell on the door rang announcing a new customer. I, hoping it was Kyle, a crush of mine for the past year, glanced over at the door. But the man that walked in was not Kyle, this man took my breathe away, I immediately forgot Kyle. He was a somewhat short, long dark-haired guy with a Rancid shirt. I watched him as he sat down at a table alone, he defiantly wasn't from around here, or he wasn't around the area much because I had never seen him before, but he did look vaguely familiar from...somewhere, I couldn't think of where. Soon I saw a hand waving in front of my face.

"Sarah...Sarah? HELLOOO?" it was Kelsey, I snapped out of my trance, "You zoned out there for a second...checking out new guys, huh?" She laughed.

"I guess you could say that." I replied, but was once again was distracted by the very lonely looking guy sitting at a table picking at his food. Everyone else was talking loudly, some singing along with the radio, and didn't really notice I wasn't really "there" anymore.

I sighed and thought to myself, 'He needs company...', "Guys, I'm going over to say 'hi', come if you want." They all nodded and stood up to let me out, no one followed as they all saw my intent gaze and knew I was only offering to be nice. I straightened out my Warped Tour shirt and headed to the table. He didn't even glance up as I took a seat, I wasn't sure if he even noticed so I held out my hand and said happily, "Hi, my names Sarah. Do you live around here? I've never seen you around". He looked up, I now realized he wasn't only eating he had a small notebook as well, "Oh, I'm sorry were you busy?".

"Oh hi...no it's ok, and actually I am from here but I'm not usually around. The names Davey." He shook my hand, and then it clicked...Warped Tour...AFI...Davey...um...Havok!.

"Oh...wow, you're Davey Havok, aren't you?" I asked, he sighed.

"Yes, I am..." he paused after, he sounded kind of pissed, I started to get up but he stopped me, "Sorry, I'm just trying to keep it on the low down here. This place is new so not too many people come here yet, I was hoping to go some place away from fans, so just try and keep quiet...please."

"Of course, you did a pretty good job actually. I didn't even recognize you until you looked up. I loved you guys at Warped Tour, you were great. So, what are you doing back here?"

"Thanks, we try." He laughed, "Well, to answer your question, as you may know I'm from here." I nodded, and he continued, "We're just playing at a place near here so I decided to check this place out. It's pretty good." The sadness he showed when he first came in seemed to have gone away, but I felt he was trying to cover something up, I decided that if he wanted to bring it up he would, I wasn't going to hassle him about it now.

"Yeah it is, I've been coming here for a while. The people that come here are great, I could introduce you to some of them."

"I'd love to, really, but I should get going. We have rehearsal soon."

"Alright, nice meeting you Davey." He smiled again, his smile was beautiful, 'Looks like I might have a new crush', I started to stand up when Davey turned away and I heard him start putting stuff away. But I felt a hand on my arm as I began to walk away.

"Wait, Sarah...?" there was a somewhat awkward silence before he continued, "Would you mind if, maybe...I called you?"

"Of course not, do you have a piece of paper?" Davey happily ripped out a piece of paper and I gladly wrote my number for him.

"Thanks, so I guess I'll see you around?"

"I'm sure you will." I said smiling, "Bye Davey." I said reluctantly and headed back to my table.
